Research & Insights Strategy

Role: Founding member + Research and Insights Strategist
I guided the strategic direction of a new research and insights agency as a founding member. On projects, I specialized in design research and insights strategy for a diverse client list. I worked closely with clients from end to end, including planning and executing research plans, developing and presenting actionable insights, and facilitating co-design workshops to turn insights into action.

Company: BlackSpace
Role: Project Partner/Facilitator
BlackSpace received a grant from the New York State Council for the Arts to lead design charrettes and talks with arts organizations across New York State. As a facilitator, I work to understand the design problem at hand then work with teams to unlock a burst of creativity in short period of time. Workshops are tactile, focused and collaborative.
Facilitation
Iām preoccupied with storytelling and can be a bit of a yapper. Sometimes I do it onstage (think the Moth). I bring my keen understanding of narrative structure to all of my insights decks ;)
Storytelling
Iām the co-founder of the Reluctant Planners Happy Hour Club, a meetup and online community bringing together left-leaning, social justice oriented planners, designers, and academics. We have nearly 100 members on our email listserv and Slack, which are used to share resources, post jobs, ask questions and commiserate on the challenges of being a planner in New York City.
The name is a bit tongue in cheek and is intended to signify that we as planners have a particular set of skills and expertise but we are not the only Experts in the room when working on a project. We value non-hierarchical collaboration, deep listening, and amplifying perspectives that often go unheard.
